Meridian, MS — Democratic congressional nominee Michael A. Chiaradio visited Naval Air Station Meridian last week, touring the facility and meeting with service members and personnel who support one of Mississippi’s key military installations.
Following the tour, Chiaradio volunteered at a U.S. Marine Corps winging ceremony, where aviators earned their “Wings of Gold,” marking a significant milestone in their service.
The visit provided an opportunity to engage directly with service members, families, and support staff, and to gain a deeper understanding of the role Mississippi plays in national defense. Chiaradio emphasized the importance of continued investment in military infrastructure and personnel across the state.
Mississippi installations have recently benefited from federal support through measures such as the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026, which includes substantial funding for military construction, research, and modernization efforts tied to facilities across the state.
He underscored his commitment to ensuring that Mississippi remains a strong and competitive hub for military readiness, training, and innovation.
The visit reinforced the campaign’s focus on supporting service members, veterans, and their families, as well as strengthening the infrastructure and economic ecosystems that sustain them. Chiaradio continues to meet with communities and institutions across Mississippi’s 3rd Congressional District as part of a broader effort to build a durable and competitive campaign.
