Shubuta, MS — Democratic congressional nominee Michael A. Chiaradio joined the Mississippi Federation of Democratic Women All Clubs Caucus this week for a virtual discussion with members from across the state.
During the meeting, Chiaradio outlined the core priorities of his campaign: lowering healthcare costs, developing modern infrastructure, increasing funding for public schools, and investing in local food systems that help communities retain more of the wealth they create.
Chiaradio explained that he is particularly passionate about building local food systems and strengthening small businesses because he believes that entrepreneurship and locally rooted enterprise will play an increasingly important role in the economy of the future.
As automation, robotics, and other technological advances continue to reshape the labor market, Chiaradio argued that communities that foster small business ownership and diversified local production will be best positioned to adapt and thrive.
He noted that Mississippi has the potential to become a national leader in this emerging economic model by leveraging its agricultural base, entrepreneurial talent, and strong sense of community.
Throughout the presentation, members responded enthusiastically, with strong engagement and positive feedback during the discussion.
During the question-and-answer session, Chiaradio was asked why he places such a strong emphasis on public education.
He explained that education remains the great equalizer in American society and that every child, regardless of where they are born, should have access to a high-quality education. He also noted that, while many of his policy proposals are framed as economic initiatives, public education is itself one of the most significant economic investments a society can make.
Strong schools help develop human capital, attract investment, increase productivity, and create the conditions for long-term growth.
The discussion reinforced the campaign’s broader message that strategic federal investment in healthcare, infrastructure, education, and local enterprise can position Mississippi not only to improve quality of life, but to become a national leader in building a more sustainable and competitive economy.
Chiaradio continues to engage with organizations and community leaders across Mississippi as he builds momentum in his campaign for Mississippi’s 3rd Congressional District.
