Meridian, MS — Democratic congressional nominee Michael A. Chiaradio attended the IAM Local 18 Union Picnic in Meridian this weekend, meeting with members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and their families.
IAM Local 18 represents hundreds of aerospace and defense workers who support operations at Naval Air Station Meridian, including the maintenance and operation of training aircraft, flight simulators, fueling operations, and other critical support functions.
During the event, Chiaradio spent time speaking with union members about the challenges facing working families, the future of Mississippi’s economy, and the importance of maintaining a strong national defense workforce.
He emphasized his commitment to being accessible and responsive to workers throughout Mississippi’s 3rd Congressional District and pledged to be a strong ally for working people in Congress.
Chiaradio noted the critical role that aerospace, defense, and skilled trades workers play in both the local economy and the broader national interest. He also highlighted the importance of investing in workforce development, infrastructure, and economic policies that create opportunity for future generations.
The event provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with workers and families who contribute every day to Mississippi’s economy and the readiness of the United States military.
The campaign continues to engage directly with communities, workers, veterans, and local leaders across Mississippi’s 3rd Congressional District as it builds momentum heading into the 2026 election.
