Chiaradio Visits Local Medical Cannabis Business, Voices Support for Mississippi Industry

Quitman, MS — Democratic congressional nominee Michael A. Chiaradio recently visited 18/45 Medical Marijuana Dispensary in Quitman, a local medical cannabis business, where he met with the owner and learned more about the opportunities and challenges facing Mississippi’s regulated cannabis industry.

Mississippi established its medical cannabis program in 2022 and now regulates businesses involved in cultivation, processing, testing, transportation and dispensing medical cannabis.

Chiaradio supports the continued operation of Mississippi’s medical cannabis program and believes responsible businesses operating within the law deserve a fair opportunity to succeed.

For Chiaradio, that position is also consistent with his broader focus on supporting small businesses, entrepreneurs, and locally owned companies throughout Mississippi.

Chiaradio believes policymakers should provide responsible operators with clear and predictable rules while maintaining appropriate standards for products and patient access.

Chiaradio also supports reducing unnecessary conflicts between federal law and state medical cannabis programs and continuing to evaluate Mississippi’s regulatory framework as the industry develops.

The visit was part of Chiaradio’s continued effort to meet directly with small business owners and learn about the industries operating throughout Mississippi’s Third Congressional District.
