Chiaradio Joins Rankin County Democrats for Meet the Candidates Event in Brandon

BRANDON, MS — Democratic congressional nominee Michael A. Chiaradio joined United States Senate nominee Scott Colom, State Representative Zakiya Summers, and Rankin County Democrats Thursday evening for a Meet the Candidates event in Brandon.

The event drew a standing-room-only crowd as candidates and elected officials spoke with attendees ahead of the November 3 general election.

During his remarks, Chiaradio continued the message he has emphasized in recent appearances across Mississippi.

While touching on his platform of lowering healthcare costs, investing in infrastructure, funding public schools, and expanding investment in small businesses and small farms, Chiaradio focused primarily on the urgency of participation in the final weeks of the election.

Chiaradio emphasized that he views the election as bigger than himself or any individual candidate and told attendees that Mississippi Democrats should not be discouraged by predictions about the outcome of individual races.

He also addressed recent media coverage characterizing Republican incumbent Michael Guest as heavily favored to win reelection, telling the audience not to accept the premise that Guest would simply “cruise to victory again.”

Chiaradio closed by repeating the message that has become his campaign slogan: “We CAN Win.”

Mississippi’s voter registration deadline is October 5, absentee voting is underway for eligible voters, and Election Day is November 3.
