LAUREL, MS — Democratic congressional nominee Michael A. Chiaradio joined State Representative Omeria Scott and other speakers Wednesday for Scott’s annual Legislative Forum at the L.T. Ellis Center in Laurel.
The forum brought together dozens of residents and several state lawmakers to discuss issues facing Mississippi and encourage greater public participation. This year’s theme was “Taking it to the Streets.”
Chiaradio spoke about what he sees as the urgency of the November election and the importance of individual participation.
Chiaradio told attendees not to become discouraged by the difficulty of getting people involved. He pointed to his own neighborhood, where two additional residents recently registered to vote, as an example of how small efforts can add up.
He also emphasized that he views the election as bigger than himself or any individual candidate, while praising fellow Democratic candidates Jeffrey Hulum III and Scott Colom as great candidates.
Chiaradio thanked Scott for hosting the forum and for her continued support. Scott has represented House District 80 since 1993.
Mississippi’s voter registration deadline is October 5 and Election Day is November 3.
